Compensation of Amplifier Distortion for OFDM signals based on Iterative Hard Thresholding

چکیده
The mitigation of nonlinear distortion caused by power amplifiers (PA) in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems is an essential issue to enable energy efficient operation. In this work we proposed a new algorithm for receiver-based clipping estimation in OFDM systems that combines the Iterative Hard Thresholding method introduced in [5] with the weighting corresponding to the estimated probability of clipping used in [8]. Thereby a more general amplifier input-output characteristic is considered, which is assumed to be unknown at the receiver side. Further, we avoid the use of dedicated subcarriers and formulate the recovery problem solely on reliably detected sub-carriers. Through simulations, we show that the proposed technique achieves a better complexityperformance tradeoff compared to existing methods.

متن کاملIterative Correction and Decoding of Ofdm Signals Affected by Clipping
We investigate iterative receive algorithms for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission affected by clipping at the transmit power amplifier (PA). One algorithm aims at minimizing the Euclidean distance to the received sequence, while the other reconstructs the clipping noise. Both methods significantly reduce the BER compared to simple zero forcing, even for severe clipp...

This paper presents a new algorithm for the nonlinear distortion cancellation and channel re-estimation in an iterative manner for the OFDM transmission systems. Whereas in practical OFDM systems, where nonlinear amplifiers are used in the transmitter, data as well as pilot symbols are nonlinearly distorted. As perfect channel state information is often assumed in many papers, the effect of the...
متن کاملCompressed Sensing Based Recovery of Nonlinearly Distorted OFDM Signals
The high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal is a major drawback in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. A high PAPR can lead to saturation in the power amplifier and consequently distorts the signal. In this paper, we propose a method based on compressed sensing (CS) to recover nonlinearly distorted OFDM signals. The method exploits pilot tones inser...
